New D62 Policy Changes - Please be aware that beginning next year, the following District 62 policy changes will go into effect:
- Food At School - Teachers are prohibited from using food as an incentive or reward for students at school and during school day hours. Additionally, students are prohibited from bringing food treats to school for birthday celebrations or any other celebrations during school day hours. In lieu of food treats, students may bring non-edible treats such as stickers, pencils, erasers, or books. If you have any questions about what non-edible treats students may bring to school, please consult with your student's classroom teacher.
- Student Dress Code - Students are expected to wear opaque clothing that covers them from shoulder to mid-thigh. Hats, caps, bandanas and head coverings (with the exception of those worn for religious, cultural and/or medical reasons) are not allowed to be worn inside the school building.
Parent Info Night & Supply Drop-Off - Next year we will be combining our Parent Information Night with the School Supply Drop-Off and having the event the week before school begins. Please mark your calendar for Thursday, August 18. The School Supply Drop-Off will take place from 4:00-5:00 p.m., and the Parent Info Night Session will follow at 5:00 and 5:30. Box Top Winners - Congratulations to Mrs. Gierszewicz's kindergartners for for bringing in the highest ratio of Box Tops for the 3rd trimester. Miss Bushman's class came in second place. We want to thank all of our families that contributed to this program. Because of your help, the PTO raises a great deal of money for our school through this program; so please continue collecting Box Tops over the summer.
4th-8th Grader Summer Tech Opportunity - Students at East Leyden High School will be running a one day summit for students in 4th-8th grade to brush up on technology and innovation skills. The program will take place at East Leyden High School on Friday, June 17 from 9:00-2:30. The cost is $5 per student and lunch is included. Click here for more information and to register.
