Paw Market Donations Needed - The PTO funds our Paw Market, which is held twice a year in December and May. This is an opportunity for students to "spend" their hard earned Paw Prints for following the Cougar Code (Being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and a Buddy). This event is very popular with the students and we want to make sure it is sustainable for years to come. Needed items for the Paw Market include: stuffed animals, toys, games, fidgets, trinkets, raffle prizes, sportswear, craft kits, etc. If you work for a company that donates items, or if you have new items at home that you'd be willing to part with, we would greatly appreciate it. Author Visit - The PTO is providing a cultural arts assembly for our students next Wednesday, February 14th. John Madormo, author of children's mystery books, will join us for a K-2, and 3-5 presentation where he discusses his journey to becoming an author. If you are interested in purchasing a signed copy of one or more of his books click here for the order form.
Go Zen - Www.gozen.com is a wonderful and informative online resource for parents and children. Mainly, it discusses anxiety in children although there is also information regarding behavioral and parenting tips. Go Zen provides free online trainings and webinars for parents. Although you do have to pay for access to the curriculum, there are several free resources available through the website and weekly newsletters. They also have a Facebook page that you can follow to gain access to helpful information.
Crossing Guard Needed - The Des Plaines Police Department is in need of hiring crossing guards. If you are interested in applying for a crossing guard position, click here for a link to the application.
Science Night - Mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 28th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for the PTO Science Night. Steve Belliveau delightfully combines his university studies (B.S. Engineering) with his skills as a magician to present a show that captivates children and adults alike. This event is free for Cumberland families, we hope to see you there!
