Quarantine Expectations - If your child is required to quarantine for any reason, they are expected to join their classroom remote learning session for the entire day. If the student is sick and unable to attend remote classes, please call the office to report the absence.
New IDPH Guidelines - The daily D62 Student Self Certification Forms have been updated to reflect the new IDPH guidelines. Runny nose, congestion, and abdominal pain are no longer considered Covid symptoms and have been removed from the form. Students will not be excluded from school for these isolated symptoms.
Summer School Registration - If you received an invitation for your child to attend summer school, please complete the registration soon. If you have more than one child, you will have to follow the process listed in the email for each child attending. Completing the registration process does not automatically confirm enrollment. You will receive confirmation that your child has secured a spot via mail or phone communication by April 30.
Erin's Law Classes - Each year, school social workers provide child-focused sexual abuse prevention education to students in grades K-3 in response to the Erin’s Law mandate that was passed in Illinois in 2011. Students in 4th and 5th grades receive this information through their health curriculum. Click here to view the letter that came home with K - 3 students last week.
Positive Behavior Referrals - We are so proud of our Positive Behavior Referral recipients who have received this recognition from a Cumberland staff member. These children have been working so hard and following the Cougar Code of expectations. Click here to view the list for March. Keep up the great work boys and girls; we are so proud of your efforts!!!
Spring Assessment Schedule - Only in-person students will be taking the mandated state assessments this spring. The classroom teachers will be reaching out to inform the remote learners and their parents about the asynchronous activities that will be taking place while the in-person students are testing. Our 5th graders completed the ISA this week. K-5 EL students will take ACCESS starting March 30. The 3rd-5th graders will take either IAR or DLM on April 26 - May 7. Both in-person and remote students will take the local spring assessments. K-2 FastBridge will begin on April 27 and 3-5 MAP will begin on May 11.
PTO Read-A-Thon - Be on the lookout! The Cumberland Read-A-Thon is coming! Your 99 Pledges email will be arriving soon. If you don't receive an email for pledge collections, please reach out to the PTO with your current email address so your child can be included. [email protected].
PTO Help Needed - Our goal as the Cumberland PTO is to work towards establishing programs and services to improve our children's lives, regardless of where our students are engaged in learning. Having a PTO means: sponsored events, after-school fun for kids, teachers get provided with funds for STEAM night, field trips, Scholastic magazines, and much more. No PTO means no birthday books, no Halloween Bash, no Family Fun Nights, no Book Fair, no extra support for teachers and students. With that in mind, several of our board members have graduated and we need your help to continue providing these programs and amazing opportunities to our school and our children. We need YOU to volunteer for a one or two-year term on the PTO board. All positions can be shared and we will train you on all that we do! Check out our flyer and join us at our next Zoom meeting for more details!
