Student Covid Testing - D62 will be sending a notification soon to parents about free weekly saliva Covid testing that will be given to all students. This program will be OPT OUT so if you do not want your child to participate, you will have to fill out the provided form and return it to the Cumberland office. If you do not turn in the opt out form, you child will be saliva tested each week and you will receive an email notification of the results. Look for information about the testing coming home soon.
September Positive Behavior Referrals - We are so proud of our Positive Behavior Referral recipients who have received this recognition from a Cumberland staff member. These students have been doing such a great job following the Cougar Code of expectations. Click here to view the list for September. Conference Sign-Up Reminder - Cumberland will have Parent Teacher Conferences next Thursday, October 7 from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday, October 8 from 9:00-2:00. Mrs. Gierszewicz will have an additional day of conferences on Wednesday, October 6 from 9:00-3:30. These meetings will be virtual and take place on Zoom. Winter Card Contest - All District 62 students are invited to enter the 2021 Winter Greeting Card design contest. The first place winner's design will appear on a greeting card that is sent to community leaders and displayed on the district’s website and social media. The first place winner will be honored at the Monday, November 15, 2021 Board of Education meeting and will receive a framed copy of their card and certificate. Free Library Card - Does your child have a Des Plaines Public Library Card? If so, great! We hope they get a lot of use out of it; there are so many uses for it beyond checking out physical books. If you want to know more about the benefits of owning a library card, please click here. However, if your child does not have a library card, then feel free to click here and print out the application form. Please have the applications turned in to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, October 13th. The teachers will forward the completed forms to Ms. Zachwieja in the LMC, who will make sure that they arrive safely in the hands of Mrs. Stephanie Gelb at the DPPL.
Dine & Share Success - The PTO would like to thank everyone who came out to support the first Dine & Share of the year at Portillo's. Because of you, the PTO received $290 that will be used to support Cumberland students and staff.
Spirit Wear Thank You - A special "thank you" goes out to Tricia Johler and Nancy Young for coordinating the spirit wear orders this year. Despite inventory shortages and limited availability of items, we had a successful sale. We send an additional "thank you" to staff and families who purchased spirit wear for this school year. We look forward to our Friday Spirit Days--Go Cougars!!!
Book Fair Date Changes - The Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon! The online fair will run from October 14 - 27, and the in-person outdoor fair will be held in conjunction with the Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 16 from 2:15-4:00 p.m. Click here for more information and links.
