Increase in Tardies - Lately, we have noticed an increase in the number of students who are consistently coming to school after 9:00. Even if the child is coming five or ten minutes late, it creates inaccurate lunch counts and causes shortages when students come through the lunch line. Tardy students also miss important morning messages from their teachers and just aren't starting their day off on a positive note. We understand that families sometimes run late in the morning, but whenever possible, students should be in their seats by 9:00. Children can be dropped off as early as 8:40 each morning and can play on the playground until they lineup to go inside. We really appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Moving? Let Us Know - Parents, if you are planning to move out of the Cumberland attendance area, and will not be attending our school next year, please call the school office. This will allow us time to get the student information and health folders ready to send to the receiving school.
Paint Night was a huge success! - We had triple the amount of people that we had last year and it’s fantastic that families are coming out for a night of fun all while supporting their school. A HUGE thank you to Julie Centrella for volunteering to be the paint instructor. The PTO would also like to thank Julie Searcy, Kelly Wiorek, and Theresa Wager for helping throughout the night.
Book Fair Appreciation - Thank you to everyone who helped out with the Spring Scholastic Book Fair. This event would not be successful without the help of parent volunteers! All of the money raised from the book fair allows Cumberland to put new books in the library, supply birthday books as a treat for the kids, and also to pay for the Scholastic News magazines that the staff use as an educational aid.
Teach Appreciation Week May 7-11 - Our theme this year is "You Can Help Me Grow." See the attached schedule. Please bake desserts/goodies and bring them to the office wrapped and labeled with what is inside. Encourage your children to color the flower that was sent home (or attached here) and ask him/her to write how their teacher helps them grow. Flower pens will be sold for $1 on select mornings for students to give to their teachers. The PTO will be catering lunch for the staff on Tuesday from Charcoal Delights.
PTO Meeting & Board Nominations - Come to our last PTO meeting of the school year on May 7th at 6:00 p.m. Free babysitting will be available and at this meeting. We will be finalizing the PTO events for the 2018-2019 school year and have board nominations. There will be at least two vacancies for the upcoming year (Secretary and Vice President) and open nominations will take place during the meeting. No prior experience is needed. If you can not attend that night, but are interested in an open position for next year, please email [email protected]. See the attached nomination form and details about our PTO including what funds are raised for the school.
Help the PTO Through Amazon - Do you shop on Amazon? If so, you could help our PTO by making your purchases through smile.amazon.com. The site is identical to the Amazon you are used to. By selecting Cumberland, 0.5% of your purchase will go back to the school PTO.
