• Family Math Scavenger Hunt Night - We hope you can join us for the 2nd annual Family Math Scavenger Hunt Night.  Mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 11 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  Every family attending will receive a Title I Raffle Ticket for a MacBook Pro laptop.  Click here to view the flyer and RSVP form.
• Cougar Chorus Gives Back - We are so proud of our Cougar Chorus and Mr. Coon for giving back to the community.  Yesterday, they visited residents at the Summit of Uptown Retirement Community in Park Ridge.  The group sang holiday songs for the patrons and helped decorate their tree with ornaments representing countries from around the world.  We appreciate our students and Mr. Coon taking the time to meaningfully give back, especially around the holidays when many of these individuals are lonely and do not have family to visit them.  Click the Cumberland Facebook link below to see the pictures.  Great job everyone!!! 
• ADHD Website - If you need additional resources for a child with ADD or ADHD, click here.  There are some great ideas related to using music to increase focus as well as ideas for less stressful homework completion.
• Winter Reminders - Students will be waiting outside in line before school, and going outside during lunch recess, if the temperature is above 10 degrees (including wind chill).  We do not allow children to play in the snow or on the snowmounds at recess unless they are wearing snowpants and boots.  This prevents them from sitting in wet clothing during their afternoon instruction.
• New PTO Board Member - The PTO would like to welcome Shari Bratanch into the role of Vice President #2.  Shari replaces Jen Tabor, and we appreciate her willingness to join our team.  We'd like to thank Jen for her years of outstanding volunteer service in the PTO - including past President. Welcome, Shari, and congratulations on your new role.
• Movie Night - Grab your blankets and pillows, and join the PTO for a fun and FREE Movie Night.  This event will be on Friday, January 13 at 6:00 p.m. for our feature presentation of "The Secret Life of Pets!"  Pizza order forms will be sent home Monday, January 9.  Popcorn, refreshments, and concessions will be sold at the event.  Hope to see you there!  Click here to view the details.
• Illinois 5Essentials Survey - In an effort to increase parent participation in the 5Esstentials Survey, the deadline has been extended until Monday, January 9, 2017.  Click here to view the original letter that explains the details.  We appreciate you taking the time to participate.
