Safety Tips - With winter upon us, District 62 has collaborated with the Des Plaines Police Department to create a brief communication for families regarding student safety as they walk home from school. Click for English, Spanish, or Polish.
Cougar Chorus Gives Back - We are so proud of our Cougar Chorus and Mr. Coon for giving back to the community. Last Thursday, they visited residents at the Summit of Uptown Retirement Community in Park Ridge. The group sang holiday songs for the patrons and helped decorate their tree with ornaments representing countries from around the world. We appreciate our students and Mr. Coon taking the time to meaningfully give back, especially around the holidays when many of these individuals are lonely and do not have family to visit them. Great job everyone!!!
Winter Reminders - Students will be waiting outside in line before school, and going outside during lunch recess, if the temperature is above 10 degrees (including wind chill). We do not allow children to play in the snow or on the snow mounds at recess unless they are wearing snow pants and boots. This prevents them from sitting in wet clothing during their afternoon instruction.
Read To Succeed Program - The Six Flags Read to Succeed program forms are due Friday, January 18th. Students who read for at least 6 hours and return the form to their teacher will receive a free ticket to Six Flags to use over the summer. The upcoming break provides a wonderful opportunity for the children to catch up on their reading.
Preschool Intern Needed - The Des Plaines Public Library is seeking a part-time Preschool Intern for their outreach program. Click here to view the posting.
Happy Holidays - On behalf of the entire Cumberland School staff, we wish you and your family a happy, restful and safe Holiday Season. We look forward to seeing you again in 2019!
