Spring Break Reading Challenge - Mrs. White has created a Spring Break Reading Challenge for all Cumberland students. Those who read at least 2 hours over spring break next week will be eligible to win an ice cream maker of their very own. Please watch this video with your child, it will explain the program. Parents, once your student has met the minimum 2 hour reading requirement, please fill out this form to enter him/her into the raffle.
Gallery 62 Winner - We would like to congratulate 5th grader Julia Oleksy for being chosen as the 2019 Gallery 62 winner representing Cumberland School. Mrs. Todorovich recommended Julia based on her outstanding artwork and creative talent. Her art piece will be displayed at the Forest Administration Center over the next two years. Though the celebration at the March 16th Board of Education meeting was postponed, we want to recognize Julia for a job well done. Congratulations Julia; we are so proud of your artistic accomplishments!
2nd/3rd Grade Concert - Our 2nd and 3rd graders have been rehearsing for a long time and were excited to put on a concert for their family. This year, since that didn't happen, we had to change things up a bit. On Friday, March 13th, they were able to put on their performance for our students and staff. Ms. Zachwieja recorded the show so that families could watch from home. Click to view for part 1 and part 2 of the 2nd/3rd grade concert. Thanks Mr. Coon and Ms. Zachwieja for making this possible!!!
Read To Succeed Participants - We are so proud of our students who worked hard to meet the requirements of the Read To Succeed program this year. These students will be awarded with a complimentary ticket to Six Flags for their effort. Click here to view the list, great job boys and girls!
Spring Reading Incentives - We are still encouraging our students to take part in the two reading incentive programs that are currently running. If your child reads for a total of 6 hours between March 9th and April 24th and turns in the forms to their teacher, your child will receive: a free gift and ticket to a Chicago Dogs baseball game in Rosemont AND two free tickets to a Schaumburg Boomers baseball game. The forms already came home in backpacks.
SEL Communication - Click here to view the Social Emotional newsletter created by our school psychologist and social workers. Included are helpful links, resources and activities for students during the school closure.
From The PTO - We would like to send out a very special "Thank You" to all of the Cumberland families and staff that came out to support McTeacher's Night on March 10th. The turnout was more than we could have imagined and because of that generosity, our PTO made $976. Click here for a list of websites that families can access while school is closed.
